2022 Miss USA Pageant Judging

Selecting the Top-15 Semi-Finalists: As was the case in 2021, we want to reiterate that the Miss USA Leadership Team or anyone who is not on the judging panel will NOT participate in any part of selecting any of the Semi-Finalists or Finalists at our 2022 National Miss USA Pageant. We will provide the judges with an excellent and extensive Judges’ Orientation and will allow the judges to perform their job of determining who makes the Final Cut as Semi-Finalists, Finalists, and our new Miss USA 2022. In the July 1, 2022 Miss USA Newsletter, we published the Miss USA Organization Preliminary Pageant and Finals Pageant scoring and judging criteria for the 2022 Miss USA Pageant.

We will remind the judges to keep in mind that the pageant is ultimately a beauty pageant, so they should select the contestant that impressed them as one of the most intelligent, all around beautiful, and who will be an excellent representative for the Miss USA Organization. Not only should she be physically attractive, but she should also proudly possess unique qualities that make her internal persona beautiful. This winning combination should be translated clearly through the competition to resonate with the audience. Our new Miss USA titleholder should be a great speaker, beautiful, charismatic, relatable, and possess all of those qualities to fulfill her role as the national representatives of the Miss USA Organization. We will ask the judges to keep an open mind and heart, and then that exceptional, qualified, and beautiful young woman will make herself known.

Judges: At the 2022 Miss USA Pageant, we will have a variety and well-rounded judges’ panel which will include both males and females.

Dr. Elizabeth Berrocal is a clinical licensed therapist who specializes in Women’s Mental Health, Trauma, and the Empowerment of the Self. Elizabeth is an EMDR therapist and a certified hypnotherapist. It was through this work, focused on trauma, that she began to identify the power of harnessing pain and purpose. She holds a PhD in Gender and Diversity and is a published academic author in Latin American Immigrant Women and Existential Challenges in Motherhood. Dr. Berrocal’ s academic studies and career have led her all over the world; throughout the decades she studied in England, Spain, and Mexico, cementing her love of culture and diversity. What sets her apart from others in her field is her extensive international experience and exposure to many different demographics, which has led her to fundamentally understand the depths of people from various backgrounds, allowing her a unique ability to empathize with and empower her clientele. She strongly feels that finding a purpose and meaning behind our pain leads to deep personal growth and in-depth self-awareness.

It was through Dr. Berrocal’ s expertise in both academics and being a practicing clinician, that The Berrocal Method was created as a new way of healing. This method is a process which emphasizes a precise integrative approach to overall emotional wellness by learning healthy ways which helps treat both mind and body. What sets aside this method from most is the focus on shadow work, and the need to address the hidden parts of our psyche by examining key issues and traumas which can cause us deep anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. By delving deeper into the difficult and often painful parts of us and addressing the attached traumas, we can begin to build a deeper connection to the self, build mental and emotional toughness and resilience, heal generational trauma, and improve interactions with others. When she is not working, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with family and loved ones.

Smile Train Ambassador Program

Our Smile Train charitable partner has some exciting news for all of our State Titleholders!

Smile Train is excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Student Ambassador program and the Board of the Young Leadership Circle (YLC). Smile Train is actively recruiting for both programs through August 5, 2022.  We are also thrilled to share that our very own Crystle Stewart, Miss USA Organization President, has joined Smile Train’s Board of Directors https://www.smiletrain.org/news/smile-train-announces-additions-paula-shugart-and-crystle-stewart-board-directors. The Smile Train Student Ambassador program is an opportunity for high school students to make a real difference in other young people’s lives. Student Ambassadors spread compassion for children with clefts, raise awareness of Smile Train’s sustainable model, and create smiles with classmates, neighbors, friends, and each other. Comprised of teenagers from all over the world, this program is a great opportunity for high school students to learn more about cleft and global health, to gain valuable leadership skills, and to expand their networks.

The application for this program can be found at: https://www.smiletrain.org/community-programs/schools/student-ambassadors/apply

The YLC Board is a vibrant group of graduate students and young professionals (approximate ages 22 to 35) who are committed to empowering local healthcare workers around the world to provide children with clefts the care they need to live and thrive. The YLC holds fundraising events and educational programs throughout the year. They also have the chance to attend our annual YLC Board Conference, visit Smile Train’s programs in the field, and access other exclusive benefits throughout the year.

The application for this program can be found at: https://www.smiletrain.org/community-programs/young-leadership-circle/apply. For additional information relating to each of these programs, please feel free to reach out to Smile Train – Troy Reinhart treinhart@smiletrain.org
