HOW CAN I ENTER THE MISS USA COMPETITION?

The primary criteria to qualify to become a contestant in the Miss USA Pageant, is that you must first have won your official state pageant. Once this is the case, you will automatically become a contestant, thereby securing your place in the Miss USA Competition.

CAN I COMPETE MORE THAN ONCE?

Unfortunately not. This is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity as you may only compete in the Miss USA pageant once. The good news is, you are able to compete in your state pageant multiple times, as long as you meet the age requirements, thereby giving you more opportunities to chase your dreams.

DOES THE WINNER OF MISS USA GO ON TO ANOTHER PAGEANT?

Yes! The winner of Miss USA goes on to compete in the international Miss Universe Pageant. To win Miss Universe is the most revered title in the world of pageants and so we look for a winner who can carry the great honor of representing our nation on the ultimate international pageant stage.

HOW ARE YOUR PAGEANT VENUE SITES CHOSEN?

When considering our pageant location, we take many factors into consideration. Our primary focus, however, is finding a location that’s easy to access, hospitable to all visitors and somewhere that families can feel comfortable to have a good time as they support their contestants throughout their pageant stay!

IS MISS USA DIFFERENT FROM MISS AMERICA?

Yes we are two separate competition systems. The main factors that differentiate us is that the Miss USA System has no talent competition and Miss USA goes on to represent her country at the MISS Universe Pageant.

ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?

Yes. Miss USA contestants must be at least 18 and under 28 years of age before January 1st in the year they hope to compete in the Miss USA pageant. Please know that we adhere strictly to the age requirement so we do ask for official documentation to confirm your age.

WHAT CAN I DO TO BEST PREPARE FOR THE PAGEANT?

Some of the contestants that have made it to the Miss USA pageant have entered on beginners’ charm while some have devoted much of their lives to competing in pageants. Pageantry is like a sport – training and proper planning and preparation are required to do your best.  As such, the best form of preparation is knowing for yourself, your strengths and those areas which need improvement, then work at them all! The competition is fierce, but ultimately you’re competing with yourself!

HOW MANY CONTESTANTS COMPETE IN MISS USA?

A total of 51 contestants compete for the title of Miss USA. This roster is comprised of a representative from each of the 50 states and one from the District of Columbia.

WHAT IS MISS USA LOOKING FOR IN A CONTESTANT?

We are looking for a winner that’s ready to steal the global spotlight and conquer the international stage !  We expect Miss USA to be a team player, kind and courteous, well-spoken, confident in her unique beauty and carries herself in a manner worthy of the Miss USA title at all times, on and off the stage. The winner of Miss USA will go on to represent our nation at the Miss Universe pageant, so we want contestants that are serious about bringing home the international crown.

WHAT DOES MISS USA DO AFTER SHE IS CROWNED?

After her coronation, Miss USA can look forward to a new life in Los Angeles, matched by an entirely new lifestyle! For the duration of her reign, she will be engaged in red carpet experiences, networking opportunities, professional photo shoots, speaking engagements and more. She will also have the opportunity to promote her personal platform alongside the charitable alliances of the Miss USA Organization.

IS THERE AN ENTRY FEE?

No, there is no entry fee for the national Miss USA Competition. However you must win your state USA competition to be eligible.

IS THERE A TALENT PORTION OF THE COMPETITION?

No. While all of the contestants are talented in many different ways, at the Miss USA Pageant, there is no performing talent required and it is not a part of the competition scoring. Our scoring rubric comprises three equal competition phases: fitness, evening gown and interview.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR PERFECT TENS?

The Miss USA Organization doesn’t believe that women can be assessed and compared all  by one standard. We are committed to reinforcing the message that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and contexts. We are looking for young women that harness their individual persona, aesthetic and platform so they represent our nation, shining in their best light!
